How to control font size for subscripts/superscirpts in word 2000

I need to use font 12 for my write up with font 10 for subscript/superscript.
However, when I select text (of font 12) and make it subscript (using format
font feature), the subscript font becomes too small (looks like size 8). Is
there a way in word to specify the font size for the subscript? If I increase
the original text font size to a greater size like 14 and then make it
subcript, it gives me close to desired size 10 but the line spacing is
increased.

Any suggestion/help is highly appreciated.

Probably not the answer that you are looking for, but how about using Calibri
12 font for normal and Arial 10 font for subscript and superscript?

You can set the Line Spacing in your paragraph style to Exactly.

But as for changing the size of the subs and sups, sorry, this isn't
FrameMaker!
