How to convert a Project 2003 task into an Outlook task

Hi All

I have a project (MS Project 2003) and I want to be able to convert a
project task into an Outlook task, both for myself and to send to my
colleagues. If I follow the usual MS logic, I should be able to click and
drag (they have the same fields, after all), but it doesn't work. I've
looked at all sorts of things, but can't get them to work either.

It seems like such an obvious requirement, I can't believe it isn't there.
I know there are a lot of options with MS Project Web, but that's not what I
want at the moment.

So, am I doing it wrong, or is it not there?

Thanks!

Penelope

hi,

MS Project Server provides the option to integrate MS Outlook with Project
Server and view project tasks in MS Outlook. MS Project (with out the project
server) does not include this option.

It will however be possible to write code for MS Project and Outlook using
VBA and place project tasks in Outlook.

A not very elegant way is to export MS project tasks into MS Excel and then
import the list into MS Outlook. Only data where the fields map is included.

Kind regards,

Hi Haris

Thank you! I'll give the excel option a try - my VBA is a touch rusty...

Hi Mike

Thank you for that! It sounded perfect. I took a look, though, and it
looks dangerously complicated (editing registry entries etc), so I daren't
touch it...

If anyone knows of any simple VBA 'Copy Project Tasks to My Outlook Tasks'
function, do say so!

best wishes
