How to convert cad to visio w/o changing the scale of the drawing

I am trying to convert a cad drawing into Visio, but when I do the entire
scale of the drawing is enlarged by 5%. How can I avoid this problem?

Is the scale off before conversion or after conversion? When you bring the
CAD drawing into Visio, you either open the DWG file directly or you choose
Insert > CAD Drawing. If you open the file directly, Visio will customize a
new drawing page for the CAD drawing, which is inserted as an embedded
object in the center of the page. Visio automatically chooses an
appropriate page scale for you. If you Insert the CAD drawing, Visio
displays a dialog that allows you to configure the scale of the embedded CAD
object. You should always choose to match the page scale. If you choose a
custom scale (which is unfortunately the default) the scale of your CAD
object will not match the rest of your Visio page. This will result in
improper scale during conversion.

If your scale is set properly just prior to conversion and you still see a
difference afterword, please post back with more details.

Okay I'm a little closer but it's still not right. Once I have it in visio
there is text on each object and they are combined as one object. The text
appears to be coming in at the right scale, but the ojects are about 10% of
what they should be. Any more ideas? Thanks for your help!

First, what version of Visio do you have? Then, which method are you using
to bring the CAD drawing into Visio - File > Open or Insert > CAD Drawing?
At this point you see everything just fine. Then after choosing Convert on
the object, the resulting shapes are a different size (but the text is
okay). Is that correct?

Do you know if the objects in the CAD drawing are AutoCAD blocks or simple
entities?

I am using Visio 5.1. I believe the objects from the CAD drawing are
entities. To insert the drawing I have been using: Insert, CAD drawing. I
am much closer to getting it right. I think my main problem is the drawing
scale. In Auto CAD 1'=1' , in visio the closest I have been able to get is
1'=268'. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

I do not recall how the Page Setup dialog was arranged for Visio 5, but you
should set up the page scale there before inserting the CAD drawing.

There may also be an option in the CAD Properties dialog to choose the CAD
units. This tells Visio that CAD coordinates should be interpreted as
inches, feet, millimeters, etc. You could try changing this as well.
