How to create a new chart type?

Hi Everyone,

I would like to show the following on a graph: n number of bubbles and n
number of dots where there is a one-to-one link between a bubble and a dot,
and moreover I would like to show this linkage between a the bubble-dot pair
by connecting the centre of the bubble with the dot with a straight line.
I am not a 100% sure what would the best solution be, I presume it could be
solved by creating a so far non-existent chart type with the above features.
Could someone please help me with the how-to?

Thanks a lot in advance and best regards,

eNJay

Most series chart types can be mixed, but not bubble series: they don't
play nice with anything except other bubble series. You could create
"dots", by making little bubbles, but you still can't connect them with
lines.

(Unless... are your straight lines always vertical or horizontal? Then
you can use error bars)
