On a machine where the path is known, plug the full path into the search
feature of REGEDIT and see what you come up with.
These look the most promising to me:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\POWERPNT.EXE\shell\Open\command
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Applications\POWERPNT.EXE\shell\Open\comman
d
As Taj mentions, these will, I think, give you the location of the version
that
currently launches when the user doubleclicks a PPT file. Other versions
may
be installed.
