How to force hard CR at end of line (page-width end)

Using Word 2000

Wish to use Word as my text editor for a Visio 2000
Text Box insertion.

In Word, I wish to format the "page width" to 4 inches
which is exactly the width I wish in the Vision Text Box.

Of course as I enter text into Word, wrapping occurs
(without a CR, of course) at about 4 inches (the page
width) which is just fine.

When I copy/paste the text (in Word) to Visio, only hard
Word CR's are recognized in Visio.

Therefore, how do I force a hard CR in Word when it wraps
at 4 inches?

[NOTE: When I add a hard CR to each line manually, the
copy/paste to Visio works fine.]

TIA Dennis

Thanks Susan,

If I may, is there a way to have Word automatically insert
a hard CR at the end-of-line and yet be able to edit the
document, seemlessly, as if there was not a hard CR?

I reaize that a hard CR is different from a "soft" CR.
(Enter vs Ctrl+Shift+Enter)

Is there a template and/or VBA code that would quickly
add/delete hard CR's at 4" when I am done editing the
document?

TIA Dennis

Ctrl+Shift+Enter inserts a line break.

There is a way to save a document as "Text with line breaks," and this
inserts hard CRs. This is accomplished in varying ways in various versions
of Word. Word 2003 offers just Plain Text (*.txt), though I believe perhaps
if you choose this option you get a dialog asking which flavor of DOS text
you want. I'm not sure how this is done in Word 2000.
