A quick way is to save it as PowerPoint show which will start the slideshow
immediately. Of course, this doesn't provide any protection since you can
rename the extension or open the .pps from PowerPoint itself.
For PowerPoint 2000,
You can embed your presentation into MS Word or Excel, which support
password protection.
