How to get rid of icons/pictures that keep popping up?

After pressing certain keyboard buttons (for example, Tab) in Word 2007, a
small image-picture-icon-whatever pops up and will not disappear until I
start typing again.

The "icon" (? -- for lack of a better term) looks like a lightning bolt. It
has a drop-down box, and seems to be somehow connected with Autoformat. It
mentions options for Indenting.

I don't know what this little doohickey is called, so I've been searching
blind for it in Word's Help section. But, I did look in Autoformat for an
option to turn this thing off. Alas, except for turning off the
Autoformat/Spell-Check completely, there doesn't seem to be any way of
getting rid of this thing.

It's becoming an annoyance. I would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks!

It's an AutoCorrect Option button. Get back to the AutoCorrect dialog -
AutoCorrect tab... it's the top option listed.

Thank you -- the "lightning bolt" has disappeared.

However, there is still a little Clipboard that keeps popping up when I
highlight and move text. Unclicking the AutoCorrect doesn't seem to have any
affect on that.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Yep. That'd be the Paste Options buttons. Office - Word Options - Advanced -
Cut, copy, and paste section... Remove the check next to Show Paste Options
Buttons.

While you're busy removing these annoyances, you might find it useful to
choose Office, right-click on Word Options, and choose Add to Quick Access
Toolbar. It'll save you a step.

Cheers,

Thanks. Everything is fine now.

If anyone from Microsoft reads this: You should, perhaps, make these options
plainer to see in future versions. The lightning bolt in particular was
becoming as annoying as "Clippy," the paperclip assistant from Office 2000

Thanks again!
