Is it possible to pull Microsoft word 4.5 off of my Win95
disc?? Or is there another way to get something that I
can creat a document from scratch.

Word is not on the disk for an OS.
Word/Office has separate installation media.

Thanks for the reply Howard. I just loaded Win98 and
there is only notepad which I can't seem to work. Anyway,
when I loaded Win95 in the past it has Microsoft word 4.5
on it and I was wondering its possible to get it off of
the 95 disk. I just noticed Quicken is missing to.

No version of Windows has ever included Word, which is part of the Office
suite. It's possible that your computer came with a CD that allows you to
reimage your hard drive with all the installed apps (Windows, Word, and
others), but if this is the case, Word is an OEM version and could not be
legally installed on another system, anyway.

This disk came with my laptop. Its the recovery disk and
it recovers win95 which has Microsoft works 4.5
(version?). Anyway the question is whether I can pull the
word processor off of the system disk. This is a 1997
fujitsu laptop with the disk that came with it. thanks

The answer is that it may be possible, but unlikely. Many manufacturers use
Ghost to create their recovery discs and password protect the content. The
only way to access that content would be to install the recovery which is
not something you would want to do. In order to install Works, you need the
install files and unless you can access them from this disc you are not
going to be able to install that version of Works.

You could buy a new copy of Works from eBay - a quick check shows there's
one currently on sale - 7104765835 - for £4.99!.

try www.openoffice.org - it's free and will save and read Word documents.
