How to hide inactive resources

A

Angel

Hello,

I am working on a project that has been going on for more than a year.
Some resources have come and gone in the project and they entered actual
work in the past.
Is there a way for me to hide these resources that are no longer apart of
this project.
It would greatly reduce the number of resources lines that appear.

Thanks!

Hello Angel,

Open the Enterprise Global, then create a new resource filter : Project /
Filter for / More filters...
Field name : Inactive
Test : equals to
Value : No
Save the Enterprise Global and quit Project

Now you can apply this filter in the Ressource Sheet or in the Build Team
dialog

Hope this helps,

An option would be to add a custom field for resources, apply the values
from the custom field to each resource and create a filter that only shows
resources that are marked as active...

An example of this is ...

Create the custom field
tools > customise > fields
Select the resource radio button
Select flag from the drop down list (type)
Select the first available instance e.g. flag1
Rename = Active
Value List = Yes, No
Click Ok

Populate the resources with either yes for active or no for no longer active
on this project

Either

Add the Active field to a resource view / table
Fill in each entry, or

Double click on each resource and in the custom fields tab enter a yes or a no

Create a resource filter
Project > Filtered for > More Filters
Click New
Name the filter - e.g. Active Resources

Field = Active
Test = Equals
Values = Yes

When you apply this filter only resources that have been marked as active
will be displayed ... the filter can be applied ad-hoc or as part of a view

I hope this long winded answer helps

To differentiate between Gérard's response and my own

Gérard's response assumes the resources to be enterprise resources and to
have been made inactive for all projects e.g. left the building - if this is
the case then this filter will be the most appropriate

My own response assumes the resources to be active on other projects and to
have only completed their tasks on this specific project. If the team members
are still active on other projects then this may be the most appropriate
filter

Either way - storing the filter in the global.mpt file is a good idea I
neglected to mention this in my previous post.

Gérard - I am assuming it is ok to make reference to each other's postings :)

Hi Chris,
Gérard - I am assuming it is ok to make reference to each other's postings
:)

Of course it is. It's always interesting to compare different points of
view!
