Baseline using Placeholder Resources...

So I'm trying to set up a project file for one of the apartments that m
company is building. As is typical for a general contractor, we don'
always know who will act as our subcontractor for a specific task (suc
as the Framing contractor) until well into the building phase. We d
however budget strictly for each fixed price contract. I want to run a
Earned Value setup, but to do so I need to baseline the project. To d
this, I have assigned a generic placeholder resource "Framing Labou
Contract" to the framing task in my project file (for your info, w
enter resources as Material resources with 1$ units). Now ou
accounting software is linked to Project: once a task is completed, th
syncing macro will go through Quickbooks, find the actual subcontracto
that did the actual framing, and assign them to the aforementioned tas
(financials included obviously) if it hasn't already been done.

Here's the problem: I have the generic resource baselined there. Onc
the macro adds the true resource, I have a generic resource that i
baselined, and the real resource with the updated actual costs that i
not. *Is there a way to automatically replace the generic resource wit
the real resource and keep the original baselining? * If not, how do
assign the real resource with a baseline amount that is different t
what quickbooks dumps in the actual cost column? Is there an equivalen
to the Budget Resources that I can assign for baseline purposes
