how to i save or access from cd rom in word 2000

I get an error when trying to save to a cd rom, something like I do not have
access to F:\file see administrator for access. what do I need to do?

Hi Tod,

DO NOT save to CD or open from CD directly. Copy the document from the
CD to the hard drive*, work on it and save it there, close it, then
copy it back to the CD.

*With Windows XP, copying files from CD to hard disk leaves the copies
writable. With older Windows versions, you need to right-click the
files and turn off the read-only flag.

Because Word uses lots of temp files, it doesn't take kindly to using
any kind of removable media. It also doesn't play well with
packet-writing CD software. Even if you manage to get rid of the error
message and save direct to CD, you run a big risk of corrupted files
and losing your work.

Jay thanks for the info, sorry it took so long to do that. If it is not too
much trouble could you tell me how to save to and copy from hard drive when
loading or saving information using ms word 2000? Thanking you in advance
for any help you can give in this matter.

Hi Tod,

In Word, open the Tools > Options dialog and click the File Locations tab.
The location listed for the "Documents" line is the folder that Word will
show you the first time you use the File > Open or File > Save As dialogs.
You can use the dropdown in the dialog to navigate to other folders, but
that's the starting place. Usually that location is set to the My Documents
folder, but you can change it if you want to.

To work on a document that's on a CD, use the Windows Explorer (the file
manager program) to copy the document from the CD to the Documents location
on the hard drive. Then use Word to open the document and edit it.

Save often as you work, using File > Save or the Ctrl+S shortcut. This will
save to the Documents location on the hard drive. When you finish editing
and close the document, then you can copy the file from the hard drive back
to the CD. For that you can use your CD burning software (or if you have
Windows XP, you can use Explorer).

I'm trying to save a word doc to a cd via explorer. when I try to write the
files to the cd, I get an error message at the end saying there was a problem
copying the file. help! I'm desperate to get this document on the cd and
take it to kinko's!
