How to keep my name/address OUT of the return address box?

When I entered my name and address into the "return address" field of the
Print Envelopes option in Word, it keeps re-appearing even when I uncheck the
Omit option and delete it! It's very annoying! Maybe I'l rather have my
company's name and address to stay there, so when I uncheck the omit box,
remove mine and enter my company's, it never stays. I'll close out of Word,
and mine's back the very next time! I've asked other co-workers, and they
can't figure it out either.

We have the same problem in our office and because we couldn't clear it we
all changed the font color to white. I know it's not a permanent solution,
but it worked

Thank you, I'll try that then. I'm glad it's not just me. It happened when
I free formed in the address field of the return address box. My company has
pre-printed, letterhead envelopes with the return address, so I never had to
type in our address. The day that I wanted to send something personal on a
plain envelope, that's the day that it decided to never leave once I typed in
my home addresss. It's so annoying!

Delete the address you have added from Tools > Options > User Information >
Mailing Address.

Thank you, I actually tired that yesterday after PJY's suggestion, when I
started digging into the help topic's index. When I first tried Tools >
Options > User Information > Mailing Address, and deleting it from the box,
my address was removed from the Return Address Field of Envelopes and
Mailing. I was happy that I figured it out, but, as an experiment, I later
closed out of Word, then reopened it only to find it had re-appeared again.
I told my co-worker that it had to be the "ghost" in the hotel! Today, after
reading your suggestion, I opened Word and a new document (with no type) and
so far, so good, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Thank you so much for your help!
