How to make a simple way to make monthly reports within short peri

The data base (tables) are storing the data of the beginning of the month.

And the required report have to be included the monthly trend.
For example, the data of this month versus the data of the previous month
and have some simple calculation.

Therefore, the procedure in making this report have to change the queries in
mapping the current month data and the previous month manually. and is there
any convenience way to make if the format of monthly data is the similar.

In perfect world, if the report format is completed and the process is just
selecting the target monthly data and the month to be compared. and the
report is done.
