How to Prevent Image Paste from resizing note container?

G

Gordon

Hi,
I tend to keep my One Note window fairly narrow -- perhaps 5 or 6 inches.
When I type into it, the note container autmoatically stops expanded when it
reaches the width of the window -- very nice.

But then when I insert a screen clipping that is wider than the one note
container width, the container width expands. Now I have a horizontal scroll
bar. In order to get back to where I was, I need to shrink the image, and
then go back up to the top and resize the note container.

Is there a better way to do this? For example, have the picture paste in
as large as possible without expanding the note container?

Many thanks!

Cheers,
Gordon.

Unfortunately no way of doing this but if you use SnagIt instead of the
built in screen clipping, you can use SnagIt's many options to automatically
resize the screen clipping after you've grabbed it. I know you can size it
down by a percentage (the clipped image gets scaled to 75% or 50% of the
original size for example) or you can specify a width or height in pixels.

Then when you paste into OneNote, it shouldn't be as bad.

Hi,
Ok - thanks. My requirements are even weirder -- what I'd really like to do
is take a very large screen clipping and past it in. Have the image shrunk
down to the appropriate size, but not have the image actually resized (i.e.
have the image remain at 800x600, but displayed at 320x200, or whatever). The
reason for this is that later on I often go back and extract these images for
a talk or some document I'm writing, so I want the higher quality pixel size.

Too bad for now! Thanks a lot!
Cheers,
Gordon.

Well you can certainly resize the image once you paste it into OneNote and
though I'm not 100% sure, I think Word preserves the original resolution
unless you specifically tell it to resample it. OneNote may have the same
behavior.

Indeed, it seems to. The only thing missing is that it causes the note
container to resize -- so if I wan't to keep it to "my size" I have to go and
resize it after every time. It isn't that big a deal, but it would be nice to
limit it, especially when it expands the note container to be larger than the
onenote window (i.e. introducing the horizontal scroll bar). -Gordon.
