How to re-size the Word Insertion Blinking bar?

The word insertion blinking bar is half of its regular size (+/- size 6) when
should be size 12, even though when I type the font size is 12 (again, but
the insertion blinking bar is half the letters size). Changing the font size
does't help, it increase the blinking bar size but the font size also
increase so the problem is not solved.

Could anybody out there help me out with this one? I need to re-align the
insertion blinking bar with the font size.

Set the zoom to 500% then back again to your usual setting.
