How to remove Office 2000 prior to reinstall

I installed a new hard drive and chose the option to copy all files to the
new drive and make it the master drive. OK, I know - don't do it! Now that
it's done, I have reinstalled windows XP and it seems to work ok but I do
need to do a parallel install sometime.

My problem now is with the Office 2000 Small Business programs - can't
update them and can't delete them. It keeps telling me "The installation
source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and
you can access it." However the original disc is in the CD drive, but is not
recognized.

When I try to get Microsoft help it hangs up when I give the product ID
number that I get from one of the help screens for the product - wrong
product id???

One thought I had was to delete pertinent Office directories manually then
use Registry Mechanic to clear out unnattached registry items. Problem is,
if this doesn't allow me to re-install the Office suite, I would be cooked
and unable to get my work done.

Still hoping to hear from Microsoft but in the meantime, has anyone done
this and got it fixed?

You may receive a "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource
that is unavailable" error message when you add a feature that is set to be installed
on first use or when you run Office 2000 Setup
