How to replace a template with a doc made from it?

I developed a template, made a doc from it, and kept making improvements in
the doc that should be in the template. I'd like to adapt a new template from
the doc. I think I need to "detach" the doc from the template, delete the old
template, and start over. But how do I get rid of the connection between the
old template and the doc? Thanks for any suggestions.

Just save the .doc as a template (.dot), open it as a template, delete
the content, and save it.

Been there, done that!

What I usually do is just choose "Save As" and choose the name of the
template to replace it with. It will simply overwrite with the updates.

Hope that helps!

Which would _not_ be a good idea if it happens to have been based on
normal.dot, unless he wanted every document from now on to resemble
this one special project.
