How to select data point when trendline present?

In an XY scatter chart, I have data points that all lie exactly on a
trendline. When I try to select any data point for formatting, the trendline
is always selected instead. I currently handle this by deleting the
trendline, formatting the data, then reinstalling the trendline. Is there an
easier way?
