How to set up a password for logging on microsoft xp

How do I set up a password so nobody else can use my computer?

I assume you mean Windows XP. Are you the administrator of this computer?
And with all of the trouble people can get into these days I have to ask -
who are these other people you suspect are getting into your computer?

Do you want to keep them from looking at certain files or from using the
system at all?
