How to setup so Gantt view starts at project start date?

On startup, Project 2003 displays Gannt view. View does not start at project
start date though. Need to scroll to get to view. Would like to avoid this
need for scrolling. My testing shows that the Timescale format has an affect
on the amount of scrolling needed, but I have not found a way for view to
start at project start date.

Thanks

Hi MoJo,

When I create a new project, the Gantt chart timescale shows the current
(today's) date . When I enter the Project start date, the Gantt timescale
adjusts to the start date of the project. If you scroll the view, save, and
close the file, and then re-open the file, it will re-open as saved. To
quickly orient to the first task and the start of the project, press
CTRL+HOME (to scroll the table side to the top) then ALT+ HOME (to scroll the
Gantt back to the beginning.)

To quickly show the Gantt bar for a selected task, click the "Go to selected
task" button on the standard toolbar.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

JulieS - thanks for your quick help. I do not get the same behavior you
describe regarding scroll, save, close, re-open. I've tried that many times.
I'm beginning to wonder if it is because our plans are using a shared
resource pool that has dates before project start date?

Your alt-home shortcut to get view orientented to start date is a nice
workaround. Thanks for your help
