How to stop auto-open mail

How can I stop mail from auto opening? when I click on mail once it opens. I
want to be able to click twice yo open! How can I change the settings ??

Disable the preview pane.
In Outlook 2002, (and you don't say what version you have) go to
View-Preview Pane.
