HOW TO SUM UP CELLS IN SEPARATE WORKSHEETS IN EXCEL

I am trying to add up one cell in 3 work sheets and place the result in
another. How do I do this? I know this uses the Sum function key

and if the worksheets are not adjacent to each other try
=Sheet1!A1+Sheet3!A1+Sheet5!A1
or
=SUM(Sheet1!A1,Sheet3!A1,Sheet5!A1)
