Hyperlink in Publisher 2003

R

Roslyn

As an educator I wanted to put some information together on a CD in web
format. I chose Publisher as an easy to develop web site on CD. I have
previously had success with Publisher 98. However, when I Hyperlink in
Publisher 2003, it identifies the correct object/picture/ppt but when I go to
Web Preview the Hyperlink does not work.

I have been through all the help in HELP but to no avail.

Please help.

This is covered often in our forum at microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign
and documented on the FAQ -

You do not browse to the file on your local drive and set the hyperlink,
doing so will make a absolute link to the local file (i.e. "c:\my
docs\myfile") which is not correct once the web is not local (online or on a
cd). You need to manually set the link as a relative link (i.e.
"myfilename") and then manually keep that file in the same folder as the web
page that has the link.

There really isn't much you can do. Publisher is a desktop publishing
program that can also be used to create a website. Unfortunately the trade
off for not using a program designed to create websites is that you may (and
probably will) lose the ability to have a multi-browser site.

If that is important to you, then you really need FrontPage. And no, there's
no easy way to convert your Publisher site to FP. Just start from scratch.
