Hyperlink

Maxime

Hello,

I need to link a few files to some tasks. The INSERT HYPERLINK feature only
allows for one file to be linked to the task.

So I tried typing <file://C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\MODEX.ppt>
in the NOTES of a task. However, althought the text is automatically
formated blue and underlined, the link does not work.

When bringing the mouse over the link, the hand appears, but the link is not
activated.

Any ideas???

Thank you

Try removing the forward and trailing caret symbols, i.e. "<" and ">".
Also try using a consistent set of slashes, i.e. all "/", or all "\".
Finally, ensure your XP system is set to launch Powerpoint with PPT file
association.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Thanks for you reply, but it did not help me.

If a type: mailto:[email protected] , then the link works.
If a type: file://C:/my documents/. then is does not. Whether I point to a
folder or a any kind of file (doc, ppt, xls, html), nothing works. I tried
with consistent / or \, and it did not change anything.

Thanks.

Ah ... is it the spaces in the file spec? Try enclosing in double quote
marks, e,g. "file://c:/my documents/Something here/a.doc"

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Hi,

I had tried the double quotes. It does not work either. If I don't put <>
before and after, the only the part of the link up to a space will be
hyperlinked.
ex: file://c:/my documents/january
This would be underlined and blue up to "my". Hence I need the <> for the
whole thing the be underlined and blue. Yet, the link does not work.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
