Hyperlinks to external docs display but don't link

I'm working on a ppt that has hyperlinks to other slides and also word docs.
The ones to the other slides work correctly in slide show mode and take you
to the slide when you click. The ones to the other docs won't let you click
in slide show mode, they just display the path. But in regular mode they're
ok and if you right click and 'open hyperlink' it works. In regular mode the
others that were working in slide show mode stop working... they were all set
up the same, any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick response Steve... The ppt version is 2007, most of the
word docs are 2007, a few 2003. All links from the first slide are working
(they link to within the document and to external docs). I'm trying to have
other slides also link to the same documents and those are not working in
slide view, they only display the path when you click on it, but will work if
you click to 'open link' in normal view. Does that make sense?
