Hyphens in Symbol font vs enrules

Hi,

I have a bit of a problem with a document containing a whole lot of
enrules (many descriptions with number ranges). At least some of the
enrules have been replaced by a character which seems to be equivalent
to a hyphen in the Symbol font. We discovered this by going to maximum
zoom in the window--the character used is slightly higher on the page
and slightly thicker than the enrule inserted in Times New Roman font.
It also has a distinct space between each one in a row, whereas
repeated enrules don't. If we switch to Symbol font and put hyphens
from it next to this character, they look identical. We need to change
these characters to "true" enrules because the document is being
converted to XML and it is interpreting the rogue symbol as an opening
parenthesis for some reason.

The problem is, if we highlight the character, it doesn't show up as
Symbol font so we're unable to search for it to replace them all.
We've tried cutting and pasting the character into the "find" dialogue
and it just doesn't find any. We've also tried searching for Alt-045
and it will then find all the TNR hyphens but not this character. Can
anyone suggest what this is and a work-around so we can replace it
with the enrule we need? I'm talking a LOT of enrules here, so we
really need a global "find and replace" sort of solution!

Thanks in advance,
Michelle
