I am confused as usual

OK I understand the update process using task updating in
PWA. ( I think)

But can a PM with Project Standard actually accept the
updates submitted from the resources? Or does this take
Project Pro?

We have an enterprise license for standard only and that
also allows me to get a Project Server in place fairly
cheaply I have to pay mega bucks for Project Pro.

I have 2 people in charge of entering projects and setting
resources etc - they have Project Pro and 11 different
projects with 7 Project managers with Project
Standard .... can the resources submit update via PWA for
% complete to the PM's who only have Project Standard?

Sorry to be an idiot but the documentation leaves
something to be desired. Thank Heavens for Chefetz book!

Thank you for your help!

If you are using the Enterprise features of Project Server, which I HIGHLY
recommend, you will need Project Pro. Since I usually work in the
enterprise, I am not sure how Project Standard works with the system. To
see which mode of operation you have, log into PWA and go to the Admin
tab --> Manage enterprise features and the first option is for enabling the
enterprise features.

The main enterprise features are the Enterprise Resource Pool and the
Enterprise Global which both allow you to standardize everyone to use the
same settings. Without the enterprise features I believe you would have to
setup a resource pool manually and hope everyone uses the same file. But
again, I am not an expert on the non-enterprise mode and I am sure there are
several other features/reasons to use enterprise mode if at all possible.

Brad:

I'm afraid my book will leave you wanting for more, as well, because I focus
on Enterprise implementations, which are not supported by using Project
Standard with Project Server. I second David's recommendation that you
upgrade your copies of Microsoft Project Standard to Pro if you're going to
invest the time it takes to setup and use Server. You get so much more.

For you the biggest difference is the resource pool. Using the workgroup
configuration, you'll need to setup a non-enterprise resource pool and
maintain DSNs for your views. I don't cover these topics in my book.
