I am trying to create a letter head for our company from a bitmap

I am trying to create a letter head for our company using a bitmap picture,
when trying to resize it to run across the top of each page it ends up
becoming all distorted. How can I resize this picture and keep it looking
crisp.

If it's a bitmap, usually you can't. Go back to the source, scan it at high
resolution, then save it as GIF or JPG (you'll need to experiment to find
the best format).

JPEGs and GIFs are also bitmap formats, though they may scale somewhat
better than BMPs, especially if saved at very large sizes so they're only
scaled down.

Not *may* scale better, Suzanne. They *do* scale better, because -- unlike a
plain bitmap -- they're designed specifically to do so.
