I can't find the option "More Tables..."

John

Hi!

my problem is that I want to create a new table but I can’t find the option
“More Table…†in the View menu! Several days before it was there! Now it has
disappeared. I reinstall MS Project 2003 SP3 but the problem remains

And something else. I want to create a new custom filed using a formula. The
formula I want to calculate the project cost plus 10% (project_cost +
project_cost*10%). The problem is that I can’t find an existed project_cost
field! What can I do?

Thanks a lot!

John,

The "More Tables" menu is on a sub menu. Go to Menu: View, then put
mouse cursor on "Table: [current table will show", then a new menu will
appear with "More Tables" at bottom. If it's not there, that will be a
mystery. Something changed on the computer.

Re the "Project Cost" field, the reason it is not there is because you
are seeking a property of the Project. The custom fields are for Tasks
and Resources. Before telling you about VBA, how does having this data
in a Task or Resource row help you? What are you trying to do?

Thanks Bob

As regards “More Tables†option, it isn’t there! Can I recover menus options
from
“Tools->Customize->Toolbars†? I can’t understand what’s wrong. I have
reinstall MS Project but nothing! Anyway…

As regards the customized field, I want to make a new report with an entry
for the operational cost. From previews projects. I have estimated that the
operational cost, is the 10% of the total project cost. So I want to use a
formula to estimate the final cost (like this final cost = project cost +
10%*project cost). I don’t want this custom field be for tasks or resources.

Thanls!

Re the menu, I Googled for you "microsoft project no menu" and found
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875440. May or may not help. That
being said, I can't remember ever hearing of the problem. Time to get
the IT dept to fix. The computer has been messed with.

Re the formula ... custome fields can ONLY be for tasks or resources.
That's how custom fields work. I don't quite understand what you are
trying to do. I guess it all depends on where you are intending to put
that operatinal cost information. Seems like a simple enough
computation to make outside of project and use it on a task where you want.

ok, i will express it more simple. Suppose that i want to make
a new report. How can i enter an additional filed on that report?

Now, this additional field i want to calculate a formula. This formula
i want to use total project cost. Where can i find the project cost field
It doesn't exist? The total project cost information exist in a project plan.
So, does a corresponding field exist?

thanks a lot!

The custom fields are attached to tasks and resources. They are not
available for your purpose. Further, Project's reports are not very
sophisticated and I can't think off hand how you can extract one number
from (?) and put it on a Project "report".

The total Project cost is probably (? I am not near Project at the
moment to check this in the documentation) available as a VBA property
of of the project objects. Failing that you can surely use VBA to
compute the number by summing the costs. You could even put that sum
into all one or some of the custom cost fields linked to a task or
tasks. But none of this, far as I can tell based on my undestanding of
what you want can be put into a Project "report".

Why not make the report outside of Project in Excel, Word, or something?
Or connect a report-writing software to the projec data exported from
Project (spreadsheet, database, etc.).
