Re-baselining project

I know this question seems to have been asked before, but I can’t seem to
find an answer that responds directly to my needs. We have a project with
contractual dates that need to be classed as the baseline date. I’ve
baselined the project and now have variations to add where the finish date is
later than the baseline date. How can I re-baseline, keeping the original
baseline dates instead of the baseline picking up the new finish dates? The
only way I can think of doing this is by using my Finish column for the
contractual dates and adding a customised Finish column as my projected
finish, but I’m concerned about the impact to formulas I already have in this
plan that uses the Finish column as part of its formula.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Angela

Hi,
If not the dates, what do you want to re-baseline?
What if you copy the values in Baselinefinish to say, Finish1, then after
rebaselining cpy the values in Finish1 into BaselineFnish again?

Buy all means do not mess with Finish - let Project do all calculations on
that one!

Hi Jan, thanks for your rapid response. I’m continually adding new tasks to
the project as this is a 2 year project plan. We have enough detail until
May next year but only an outline for the period after that until we can
flesh it out more. As I’m using a tracking gantt, I will need to re-baseline
for the baseline view to show up on the gantt. I think your suggestion is a
good one, and the simplest. I’ll give that a go and see how it works.

Thanks again.
