I can't get the TaskPad to close - HELP!

This is a repost of an ongoing issue...but the original Subject line was
misleading so I'm trying it again. I've been trying to figure out how to
use the TaskPad and in the process I've screwed something up. I can't get
the TaskPad to close now...only minimize. Below are links to two
screenshots showing you what's happening:

By going to the calendar view and then choosing VIEW|TASKPAD it opens up the
task list on the right side of the calendar like it's supposed to. But when
you then hit VIEW|TASKPAD again it doesn't turn it off...it only minimizes
it to the right side of the screen. And whether the taskpad is on or off
there is always a gray bar down the left side of the calendar view that I
can't get rid of. (see outlook-1.jpg above) I've tried dragging the right
bar further to the right to no avail.

When you turn off the taskpad by chooseing VIEW|TASKPAD it mimizes it to the
double lines directly to the left of the gray bar (see outlook-2.jpg above)
To turn the taskpad back on you can simply drag the left of those two bars
further to the left and the taskpad appears again.

I don't mind the two bars but I do hate the gray bar down the right side of
my calendar view. I frequently view mulitple calendars at the same time and
need all the real eastate I can get on the screen.

I have tried changing the takspad view and have played around with the
customizing the taskpad view all to no avail. I'm pretty good with Outlook
but am completly stumped as to how I triggered this. Other people in my
office can toggle the taskpad on and off by hitting VIEW|TASKPAD and it
simply turns either on or completly off.

Thanks for your help.
