I can't save to my calendar, it says "could not save item". why?

I use Outlook 2003. For some reason, I suddenly cannot save a new
appointment to the calendar. When I select "new appointment" nothing opens,
and if I just type to the the day and time slot, and push enter, I get a
message, "could not save item". What's going on? Thanks.pte
