Is that text currently selected in your document when you do Edit/Find?

If you
- hold CTRL when starting Word (to start in Safe Mode)
- hold SHIFT when openign the document (so that no Auto macros can run)

do you still see the same?

My thought is that a macro may be using this, at some point. The dialog box will
remember what was used last, so it may be a left-over from something you've
never consciously noticed.
