I am trying not to buy the MS Office 2003 since I have the older version is
it possible to just buy an update or am I stuck having to buy the 2003?

You will need to purchase a new version. Office 2007 is also due out soon.

Soon? What have you heard that we haven't? We're hearing end of the
year...........maybe. And even then, I'm not rushing to my local software
vendor to buy it. I'll wait until it's been out for a little while and the
dust has settled.
