I need to specify time as well as date in Constraint Date

Mike

I am trying to use MS Project as a much truncated MRP tool. I have
tasks that range from a couple of minutes to several hours. I want to
use MS Project's Constraint Type and Constraint Date (see Task
Information box) capability to manage timing relationships between
tasks but find that Constraint Date is really a date; not a date time.
Ouch! Is there any way to do things like "Start no earlier than"
"March 10, 2005 7:00 a.m."?

Hi Mike,

Project actually does work with both dates and times. You may turn on the
display of time by choosing Tools>Options and on the view tab change the date
format. You may enter in dates and times as well.

However, setting constraints for all of your tasks defeats the purpose of
Project. You should be setting link relationships between the tasks to
"manage the timing relationships."

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Mike

absolutely, firstly ensure that you're seeing your times in the start &
finish columns (tools / options / view - change the date format to one that
includes the time as well) .. now when you set your constraints (an
remember, try to minimise the number of constraints in a project - use links
instead where possible) ... choose the date as per normal then at the end of
the year bit click in the cell, press the space bar and type the time (e.g.
7:00 am)

Hope this helps
Cheers
