I only see device fonts.

I have just installed Microsoft Office Pro 2003 and have notticed that I have
a severely limited choice of fonts. In Word these are just Device Fonts 10,12
and 17, in Publisher I have Times New Roman, Power Point has Ariel.

However, when I look under the Fonts Folder in Control Panel I see 365 fonts
files!

I have the same problem with Lotus Packages too, so the problem is probably
more system related. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This applies to Word 2000, but could equally apply to later versions.. taken

Why doesn't Word show / use show all of the fonts I have installed on my
Computer?
This is due to your default printer in Windows. In previous versions of Word
all fonts that were available in the operating system were loaded but that
slowed down starting Word without much benefit since most fonts are never
used. Now, Word only loads those fonts that are recognized by your default
printer (these are still more than most people use.)

Default printer has been set to other than a valid printer.
Check that your default printer has not been set to "generic, text
only" as this will stop fonts from showing.

Yeah thanks guys you're quite right.

Actually I'd managed to figure this one out myself by rumaging around on the
internet, although the solution was not easy to find. A sucker punch like
this should really be more recognised in Microsoft Help!

Thanks,

Paul
