I want to ignore resource availability

I have a project where I want to assign generic resources for reference only.
I DO NOT WANT TO Resource Load the project. I am having two problems:

1. Project seems insistent on resource-constraining my tasks. I don't care
what resources are assigned, I want my duration to control.

2. When I change calendars for a specific sequence, MSP gets all balled up
in the resource calendar(s). I want a few sequences to be 7/24, and others to
be 5/8. 7/24 ignores holidays and weekends, while 5/8 respects them. I can't
seem to accomplish this objective.

How would you do it?

Set a generic resource calendar for 24/7 and apply it to all resources.
Set the calendars for tasks as task calendars (F2 brings up the task
dialog - set the calendar there)
Set all tasks as fixed duration.

Jim:

Consider putting your resources in a custom text field. This way they won't
have any affect on the schedule.

I did what Gary suggested. I suspect Jack's suggestion would work too, I've
always ignored resource calendars...Thanks folks.
