Please noe I found the upgrade coupon. However I see I need the ORIGINAl box top with barcode. I have my receipt from apple store and my box with
Product Keys. I only used one Key not all three. But the orginal Big box I threw away. My apple store receipt shows the apple product number.
I wasn't told to save the big box just my receipt. I just purchased the upgrade online. Am i going to have problems if I make a copy of the back of the box I have and the product keys and mail in my receipt from Oct 2007???

Go back to the Apple store to get help. They are the ones that made the
mistake. You can't expect Microsoft to fix problems they didn't create.

I purchased a copy of Office 2004 back in January and sent in my receipt, UPC (cut out from the box top) and the filled-in form. I never received a reply from Microsoft and I never got my free version of Office 2008.

Is there a contact at Microsoft I can write to to resolve this?

Thanks,
Dave Mark

Ring your local Microsoft office. The details are different in every
market.

...And internationally? I haven't been able to find info on this upgrade
offer.

Ring your local Microsoft Office!

There has been a disaster with one of the vendors doing the posting.

Ring the poor sods at Microsoft and they will sort it out. If they don't,
come back here and we'll set Diane onto them for you :)

Hint: Be patient. Very patient. This has been badly FUBAR'd :)

Cheers

I have the same problem as everyone else. I was provided with Office for Mac 2004 by my University in December 2007, and told I would be able to upgrade to 2008 for free. I was not told to keep anything (although I do have the plastic CD box and barcodes, I did not keep the cardboard box. The ID of the package is 75869-160-6262595-12555).

The Apple Store referred me to Mactopia; Mactopia help online is pretty dire (after three screens of too many details, there is a 'technical error' that stops me sending the request in at all), so I called Microsoft (in India, where else?) who have also tried to fob me off (you know exactly the sort of thing I mean: 15 minutes on hold on a premium rate phone number, an operative who overuses your first name, and then denies that Microsoft have any part to play in sorting out your problem. It so damages Microsoft's already tawdry reputation for exploiting their customers….).

Frankly, I am already sick of being pushed from pillar to post by uncaring, customer unfriendly mega-corporations, and that’s before I have even had a reply!

Microsoft could redeem their reputation by giving us all a simple, positive, helpful answer within the 48 hrs promised, but I won’t hold my breath….

Hi,

I would say that you'd need 'proof of purchase' to demonstrate that you
received it during that 'free upgrade' period.

I was provided with Office for Mac 2004 by my University in December 2007, and

They failed to give you full details. This is not Microsoft's fault.
Basically, it is your responsibility to check out any details involving any
purchase and especially ones that offer rebates and free offers. We live in
a world of 'read the fine print.'

The Apple Store referred me to Mactopia; Mactopia help online is pretty dire

I have to agree with your there. The new site was released to coincide with
the launch of Office 2008 and Macworld. A lot could be said for waiting for
release until the product is ready regardless of the date.

You mention that "Mactopia help online" is pretty dire. A few questions around this:

1) Were you on the UK site or the US site?
2) What exactly were you looking on help for? (I assume you were looking for help on how to get an upgrade...right?)
3) What are the steps you took to receive a "technical error"?

Thanks!

Hi Kevin!!

How come you are in here with us workers :)

Kevin didn't have time to mention that he is the Group Manager in charge of
all Help, and Mactopia, for Mac BU.

So it's worth answering his questions, because he's the person directly
responsible for creating the websites, and the help, and getting it changed!

Kevin is also the person to thank for Mactopia: such a huge achievement that
it has almost overnight attracted 90 per cent of the traffic in here, and
doubled the amount!

Cheers

I bought the MS Office 2004 student & teacher version from Amazon in Dec 07. Their website directs you to 'The Office 2008 for Mac Technology Guarantee' from where you download the form, follow the directions and send off your claim to MS in Germany (obviously this is for European buyers). FYI this web address below shows the same details:
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/go/promotions/default.mspx>

I also emailed (e-mail address removed) when I had difficulty in finding the correct forms. They were very helpful.

I received my copy of MS Office 2008 home & student edition within about 6 weeks and I'm very satisfied with the service.

regarding order number 20080102169628

have made an order for the upgrade well before the deadline and it was mentioned to wait 4-6 weeks from the time the upgrades would start shipping (written to be January 31st). It is now April 7, and i haven't heard anything from Microsoft. I am based in Australia. I have emailed microsoft recently ([email protected]) and considering i didn't get a response to my previous query, i may not get a response this time around. Any contact numbers I can call or email in Oz?

CyberTaz

Take a look at your rebate request form - there should be a phone number on
it. FWIW, I understand that there was a delay in shipping, but that they are
in the process of "catching up".
