I would like a watermark on the first page only - Word2003

I would like a watermark on the first page only. Word insists on printing
the watermark on everty page. Research via the 'net tells me about headers,
but I don't use a header or fotter in my document.

Your document contains a header and footer whether you have text in them or
not; that's why Header and Footer is on the View menu. And a watermark is
just a graphic anchored to the header paragraph. If you select "Different
first page" before inserting a watermark using Format | Background | Printed
Watermark (Word 2002 and 2003), Word will put it on every page, and you can
then delete it from the Header and leave it in the First Page Header.
Alternatively, you can create it in the First Page Header manually following
the directions in “HOW TO: Create a Watermark in Word 97 and in Microsoft
Word 2000” at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=211324

Thank you Suzanne. This worked. I did not see the relationship between
watermarks and headers.
