Ideas for Management Reports?

I have a manager at one of the departments I'm doing projects for, who
doesn't like the task list/gannt layout that is default. I print out one
per week for our status meeting. This is a minor software upgrade of a
vendor system and only lasts about eight months with only about 140 tasks
identifed on the plan.

He is requesting something "simpler" to view. Do any of you have ideas as
to what a manager - who's never seen a project plan - would want.

Not a clue - this is one of those times when you'd want to set up a meeting
and have hime go over in detail with him you what his needs are.

Hi

one option to present to him would be a summarised gantt - rather than
showing all 140 tasks - show only outline level 1 or outline level 2 tasks
.... but i must admit i've never had anyone ask for anything simpler than a
"gantt" - also make sure your time scale is at a month / week view - nothing
smaller.

(oh and hide the resource names if showing subtasks - format / bar styles)
and turn off the linking arrows (format / layout) ...

That's actually what I ended up doing - only showing first level tasks. I
also put the whole thing on one 8"x11" piece of paper.

I now have this to print out and then the full project for the technical
staff. (sigh)

Ah, well, that's the breaks when you're a secretary (aka project
manager). :)

Hmm, cool idea! I'll do that for the next meeting. Thanks!!

Hi

glad you found a solution - BTW it is more common to top post in this ng
than to bottom post.
