IE browser problems

Newbie here I'm afraid
During the last week each time I follow a link a new browser window opens
but the origional browser window closes. The new browser does not allow me to
view previous pages (i.e. searches). I have not installed anything new or
intentionally changed any settings.
Don't know if its relevant but if I log in as another user then the browser
behaves (allowing use of multiple windows)
Would appreciate any advice on how to rectify this problem.

Internet Explorer is not part of Microsoft Office, so your
question is off-topic here. You might try asking in one of the
IE newsgroups.
