If I blank or white a slide, it will stay that way

If I start a slideshow on my laptop and press 'b' or 'w' it will turn the
screen black/white respectively, but when I press it again it stays that way
until I change slides. This only happens with hardware graphics acceleration
on, but I don't want to turn it off as I have some complex animations that
don't look good without it.
