Objects embedded in a Word document can be used as 'triggers' for Hyperlinks
but they do not function in the document. The capability is only there for
use in creating web pages. If you save as a web page or use File> Web Page
Preview the hyperlink will work.

I noticed this same problem when I inserted a graphic and made it a hyperlink. The "trigger hand" does not show up so that you can click on the graphic and have it go to the designated web site. Is this a bug in 2008 because I it works in 2004?
I don't want to have to save my document as a Web Page because I want it to be an interactive document for my students to use. Are they going to fix this??

Well, not to nit-pick semantics :) but that's how it's designed to be. It
isn't 'broken' so there's nothing to 'fix'. Whether it will ever be
'changed' in Word 2008 is open to speculation, but I seriously doubt it.

If you'd like to see the capability implemented in Office 2011 use Help>
Send Feedback to make your point as persuasively as you can. If there is
sufficient demand perhaps it will be included in that release.
