Image placeholders with Publisher 2003

P

pjandora

I just made a website in Publisher 2003 and when the website is posted the
images are slow to load and the image placeholders show with that little icon
in the upper left hand corner(not the red X). The images only take a second
to load but the placeholders looks very unprofessional.

After reading various emails around this I don't think I have found a
solution to fix this. All my images are embedded jpeg's. None of the images
are over 15kb and I only have two images on most of my pages. So I am pretty
confident it is not my images. My broswer settings are set to not display
image placeholders.

It appears that this maybe a Publsher 2003 issues or an IE issue. One thing
I noticed but could be coincidence is it actually worked fine on
my desktop which has an IE version of 6.0.2600 w/ no servie pack update. A
few other laptops I have used and another desktop all have 6.0.2800 and
higher w/ SP1 update version. The higher browser version is where the delay
and the placeholders occur. Can anybody confirm this or have any thougths
on this?

Should I just use another web design tool and start over? I am on a short
deadline so any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Phil

David thanks for your reply. Would you recommend that I just redo the
application in MS Frontpage? It seems as though this is known issue with no
current resolution.

If you have FrontPage, use it. It's specifically made for
creating/maintaining website.

If you have FP and you are comfortable using it, then yes.
