Image selection within table

Once I place an image within a table, I cannot select it to reformat, resize, or reposition. My work-around is to insert it outside the table and format it prior to moving it into the table, but if I have to reposition or change it's size, I cannot select it

Thanks for any assistance.

My work-around is to insert it outside the table and format it prior to moving it into the
table, but if I have to reposition or change it's size, I cannot select it.It always helps if you mention the version of Word involved in a problem. Graphics and table
capabilities have been changing quite a bit over the last three or four versions...

My guess is that the graphic may be formatted "Behind text". If you click the white arrow on
the DRAWING toolbar to turn on graphics selection mode can you now click on a such a graphic?
(Use ESC to turn this mode off)
