implement the monitoring of a big project

Hello,

Today, we are monitoring a big project (XX$ millions) with milestone
dates and task completion.

The MS-Project file has 5000 tasks on 10 milestones.

Where can I find information to help me implement the S curve
management, EV, CPI and SPI.

I know how to calculate the formula, I don't know how to implement
those formula with MS-Project and EXCEL.

Thanks for the help

Hi Marty,

You could use the "Analyze Timescaled Data in Excel" function in MS Project.
Right-click anywhere in the toolbar in Project Professional and choose the
"Analysis" option. The formulas you are looking for will automatically
populate over to Excel, eliminating the need for you to perform the
calculations manually. However, with such a large project, you might find
this to be somewhat limiting as you might be hitting the top-line limits of
data Excel will work with.

If you are using Project Server, you could try using the OLAP cube extension
found in the Project 2003 Software Development Kit (SDK). This adds earned
value data to the Portfolio Analyzer:

With all that said, you probably are in need of a robust EV reporting tool.
The product most of my clients use is wInsight:

Finally, there are many other products that can provide EV reporting. The
MVP website has a pretty up-to-date listing of companion products that might
also meet your needs:

Hope this helps,

-Bill
