Import from Excel issue

I know Access looks at the first 8 rows to determine the
data type. But how do get around this issue if you first
8 rows are null? In the imports dialogue box, there is a
ghosted field for choosing the field type manually... why
is this ghosted?

Anybody have any other work arounds other then entering in
a dummy record.

Is that ALL?
That's not very helpful. <g>

Alternatives include:

- export to a textfile and import that to Access
- delete the first 8 rows
- sort the table differently
- define a named range that excludes the blank rows and import that
- import into an existing table that has the right
field types and field names that exactly match
the Excel column headings
- use Automation.
