When i try to import contacts from Excel 2000 into Outlook 2000 I get a
pop-up that says the "Import/Export" engine is not currently installed and it
asks me to install it. I do not have the Office 2000 desk anymore. What can
I do? Is there a download/upgrade available?

Your only option is to install importers and exporters from the source of
your installation files.

Is that something I can do from files on my computer since I don't have the
disk? This computer used to belong to someone else so I don't know where are
the files are. What would I look for?

Depends. I can't recall if Office 2000 did, but current Outlook versions
give you the choice of copying the installation files to disk during the
install so that you don't need the installation CD at a later point. Try
installing the importers and exporters and see if they're there. The
install will request the CD if they're not.

If you have proof of purchase, you may be able to get a replacement CD. You
can always buy a replacement CD on eBay. Make sure it's the exact same
Office suite you purchased originally.
