Importing PST files

Adrianne Lynch

We copied an active PST file to a CD to reformat the hard
drive and now we are unable to import the file. We have
tried everything including saving it to a hard drive and
then removing the read only attributes on the file. It
continues to state the same message when we try to open it
or import it and then an error comes up saying it is not a
pst file. We have checked the properties and it is in fact
a PST file.

It is in XP so we thought it might have something to do
with that, but the PST file came from the XP operating
system. We also tried dropping the file into the exact
outlook folder under owner on the hard drive and it did
not make any difference.

I am at a loss on what to do next.

Sounds like it is corrupt. Have you tried to repair it with the Inbox Repair
Tool?
